Onwards to week 4 of events!

I’m going to remind you all that if you’re coming to this week’s events, please make sure that you’ve purchased society membership (you can do so here). If it’s your first time attending our events then don’t worry too much about it, but otherwise please do buy membership!

Those of you who came to the pub quiz on Thursday may have noticed the nifty whiteboards we used, and as a matter of fact they are now part of the society’s RPG inventory. If you ever want to borrow them or anything else in the RPG inventory just contact RPG Officer Logan Forth: https://www.dropbox.com/…/SFFS-RPG-Library-Catalogue-2018-2…
If you want to borrow any of the many books in our library, contact Secretary Andrea Petrou: https://www.dropbox.com/…/SFFS-Book-Library-Catalogue-2018-…
And, if you ever want to borrow a boardgame, contact Boardgames Officer Jo Winter.

A final note, if you ever need a room for a small event (with other paying members of society), such as an RPG session, just send me (Hannah Okumura Jones) a message and I can try to book a room for you.

FILM NIGHT Truth or Dare, Monday 22nd October, 18:00 – 21:00, Medical Sciences G46 (H O Schild Pharmacology LT)
Films based on video games? Horrible
Films based on board games? Even worse
Films based on party games? I guess it’s in the public domain.
Every Monday during term we watch a film as a society. The second in our three film Horror Movie trilogy (Thrillogy?) is so-bad-it’s-laughable film Truth of Dare? Based on the party game of the same name.

If you enjoy the game, you may enjoy the film?

BOARD GAMES, Wednesday 24th October, 18:00 – 21:00, Foster Court 215
Come along to our weekly boardgames sessions; from rookie to veteran, all levels of board game experience are welcome.
If you’d like to play a specific boardgame on the night, be sure to request it from Jo Winter! Just check here for the list of boardgames we own: https://boardgamegeek.com/collection/user/uclsffs…

BOOK CLUB, Friday 26th October, 18:00 – 20:00, Dillon’s Coffee (in Gower Street Waterstones)
This week’s reading is ‘The Ones Who Walk Away From Omelas’, an interesting story about a utopian city.

MURDER MYSTERY, Saturday 27th October, 14:00 – 18:00, Chadwick 2.18
A wild afternoon of intrigue, backstabbing and trickery! Those of you who have signed up will have received your characters by now, and I hope you all enjoy it.

FILM NIGHT Halloween, Monday 29th October, 18:00 – 21:00, Medical Sciences G46
I know the remake-quel is out in theatres, but here in Sci-Fi & Fantasy Society we like to keep it OG. By which I mean, the new sequel which is also a remake, and not the original sequel, released in 1978, the original remake of the sequel, released in 1998, or the original remake, released in 2007 or the remake sequel, released in 2009. Or the six additional films released in the interim period with various chronologies, timelines and genuinely the most confusing naming in Hollywood. Anyway, the main takeaway out of this is this film does not contain Busta Rhymes.

Every Monday during term we watch a film as a society. This week, we’re watching John Carpenter’s classic and the greatest slasher film of all-time, Halloween, due to the upcoming holiday named after this film.

ALL DAY BOARDGAMES, Saturday 3rd November, 12:00 – 21:00, Chadwick G07
Boardgames all day! This will be the chance to play some of those longer games that can’t be contained within three hours. Feel free to drop in or leave at any time throughout the day. Just know that it will be our Halloween celebration, so come dressed in your best spooky regalia and join us for karaoke at Mully’s Basement Bar afterwards!
